Winter Fayre 2018

The Deputy Grand Master, RW Bro Hedy-Joy Babani led a small but very hard-working team to once again stage our annual Winter Fayre on Sunday 18th November at 402 Finchley Road, London NW2 2HR. Lots of Xmas goodies were on sale and a cafe provided hot drinks and snacks.

Nigel Codron, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master of Middlesex gave a talk in the Temple about his life in Freemasonry. We were also delighted to receive an unexpected visitor in the form of Mason, the Medical Detection Dog who we had previously sponsored.

Northern Progress

October 8th – 12th saw us travelling North for our annual visit to our Provincial Lodges. The trip encompassed a Craft Meeting, followed by a Royal Arch Installation and finished with the customary Royal Ark Mariners Installation meeting. The week was tinged with sadness as the late Provincial Grand Master Brenda Cook was remembered at every meeting with much love and affection.

Robert Lomas

Sunday 2nd September, saw a very unique occasion when members of various Masonic Orders were invited by Grand Master Christine Chapman to attend an especial meeting of the Grand Lodge of HFAF to listen to the famous Masonic author and scientist, Dr Robert Lomas. UGLE gave permission for us to hold this event at Great Queen Street in London in the famous No. 10 Temple, also known as the Indian Temple. A gathering of  men and women Freemasons were entertained by Dr Lomas to hear about his journey in Freemasonry and his thoughts on various Masonic topics. The event was followed by a buffet and drinks reception in the vestibule outside the Grand Temple where people were able to chat together.

Dr Lomas had much earlier in the year offered to give a talk to HFAF and the Grand Master Christine Chapman had taken the opportunity to open it up to other Orders.

New HFAF Uni Scheme Lodge for Uxbridge

HFAF is pleased to announce that they have secured the use of premises in Uxbridge for a University Lodge. This will be an Ambassadors 13 project until the lodge is ready to be consecrated. We hope that this new Lodge will be associated with Brunel University. The first meeting has been scheduled for October 14th.

Patricia takes charge at Coventry

The Ambassadors project at Coventry gained a new leader on 12th August when the Grand Master Christine Chapman appointed W Bro Patricia Garraway to become the de facto WM and charged her to do her utmost to bring the Coventry project to fruition so that Centrum Lodge No. 46 can be re-opened. As part of the drive to recruit some more members a White Table event will be organised for November. When it is opened Centrum will also be a University Lodge which will be working with UGLE’s  Collegiate Lodge.
