Family Fun Day at Rickmansworth

On Saturday 22nd July Herts and Middx Provinces of UGLE joined together to stage a Family Fun Day in the grounds of the Royal Masonic School for Girls in Rickmansworth. Despite the atrocious weather there was a good turnout and the event was well supported. We provided our usual Tombola Stall and well done to the HFAF Team who battled on despite several drenchings.

On Wednesday 19th July the Grand Master was delighted to present a cheque for £7982 to Chestnut Tree Hospice on behalf of HFAF Freemasonry for Women for the purchase of a specialist cot bed. US women join HFAF

On Saturday 1st July seven American women were admitted into our Fraternity with a view to consecrating a Lodge in Washington DC. They came to us via UGLE where they had originally directed their enquiry. After much correspondence between their leader and the Grand Secretary they eventually travelled to London on the 30th June and were interviewed by the Grand Master and the Grand Secretary. On  the Saturday they took the first two Degrees of our Craft ritual utilising Ambassadors Lodge 13 which will also travel to Washington next year. On Monday 3rd July they returned to HQ to take their 3rd Degree to become Master Masons. Many of the Brethren who had visited India the previous year assisted in these ceremonies as by now they were experts at multiple candidate ceremonies. The Grand Inspector General oversaw all the details of these ceremonies to ensure they ran smoothly. Further brethren will come over in the autumn to be admitted.

Women Freemasons at Great Queen Street

On Thursday 22nd June Grand Master Christine Chapman, at the invitation of the WM V.W. Bro. Ian Currans, Met GL AGM addressed the members of Jubilee Masters Lodge and their guests on the subject of Women’s Freemasonry. The Grand Master accompanied by her Grand Lodge Officers was escorted into the Grand Temple where she was received by the WM. The invitation had been issued many months ago and was arranged as the lodge’s Tercentenary event. Due to the size of the audience which had also been augmented by guests and members of HFAF, the event was moved from Temple 10 to the Grand Temple.

Her talk which was entitled Women in Blue was enthusiastically received and at the end she received a standing ovation. She answered several questions on the subject to the satisfaction of all present! Her talk is now available on Met GL Porchway website.

After the meeting the guests took the short walk along Great Queen Street to The Grand Connaught Rooms for a splendid banquet.

Freemasonry on the Rock

As part of our annual visit to the Costa Del Sol we made an an excursion across the border to visit Gibraltar Lodge 47 for their Installation meeting on Wednesday 14th June. Before the meeting an interview was recorded with the Grand Master Christine Chapman and later with the new Worshipful Master Yvette Sanguinetti specially for Gibraltar TV.

We were particularly delighted to attend this meeting as Yvette was a first-time Master and it was particularly moving to see how much it meant to her.
