Sun still shining on Calahonda 53

Monday 12th June, another sunny day here on the Costa del Sol for the Installation meeting of Calahonda Lodge 53. W. Bro. Jan Owens was Installed for a 3rd year into the Chair. W. Bro. Jan has presided over two incredible years for the lodge during which time they have had many new candidates and have raised much needed funds for DEBRA the charity for Butterfly Children.

The Grand Master had a meeting with the Provincial Grand Master of Andalucia  Giles Crawford to discuss Calahonda Lodge being invited to their Annual Assembly to make a joint presentation to DEBRA.

Isle of Man Spring Festival

In April the Grand Master Christine Chapman and Deputy Grand Master Irene Stewart visited the Isle of Man brethren for their Spring Festival. On Tuesday 12th April they attended a meeting of Grace Banks Martin/Mabel Garrett combined lodges 14/20 when two former members of the Manx lodges were welcomed back into the Fraternity.

The following day the Manx brethren organised a special buffet supper to welcome their distinguished guests. The Grand Master was delighted to present a 50 year certificate and Jewel to long standing member Joan Atkinson.

Calahonda Cuppa

Worshipful Master of Calahonda Lodge 53 Jan Owens was delighted when her friend Trish suggested a Tea, Cakes and Cards afternoon to raise funds for charity, offering to donate a percentage from the sale of her home made cards.  Members enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon and together with the proceeds of the raffle raised €257 towards the Master’s chosen charity.

It's a family affair at Sesame 26

Monday 21st March saw the Initiation of yet another member of the Pearce family into Sesame Lodge 26. Bro. Zeqeisha became the fourth member of her family to join the lodge.

Her sister was Junior Deacon, her mum was Senior Deacon and her gran was a Steward. Worshipful Master Hazel can justifiably be proud of her Officers!

Woman Freemason honoured with MBE

On Wednesday 24th February 2015 our Assistant Grand Master, Hedy-Joy Babani travelled to Buckingham Palace to be Invested with the MBE, by HRH Prince Charles, for services to disabled and disadvantaged children.  Our Fraternity is  immensely proud of her and our own Charity has also benefited from her tireless efforts to raise funds. Hedy has worked for Variety for many years and her fund-raising expertise has been put to good use to raise funds for our own HFAF Charity.

Keystone Mark No. 1 Installation

On Monday 8th February 2016, at our London headquarters, another stone was placed in the Masonic superstructure when W Bro Pat installed Bro Lesley into the Chair of this our first Mark lodge. W Bro Pat having completed two years service for the lodge gave Lesley a ceremony to remember and Lesley responded by Investing her Officers with skill and assiduity. Their illustrious Preceptor, our Past Grand Master Bernice Abram was equally delighted with the high standard of the work and complimented everyone on a wonderful ceremony.

Magical Sesame

Monday 25th January saw the Installation meeting of Sesame 26 at Blackpool. Bro. Hazel Whattam was Installed as Worshipful Master by W. Bro. Anne Hughes. An excellent meeting enjoyed by everyone present.

Honours for HFAF members

We were delighted to see two of our members listed in the New Year’s Honours List for their services to Charity:

Vy. Wor. Bro. Dorothea Gell, Past President of the Board of Benevolence has been awarded the BEM

We congratulate them both.

 

Isle of Man reaffirms its support for Women's Freemasonry

On Monday 7th December, the Isle of Man brethren re-affirmed their support for Women’s Freemasonry on the island at the annual Installation meeting of the combined lodges of Grace Banks-Martin 14 and Mabel Garrett 20 when W. Bro. Caroline Ronan was installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year. The brethren were delighted that the Grand Master, Christine Chapman was able to attend.
